What we saw at Interop NY (and Mobile Business Expo)

The coolness factor of the show was kicked up several notches by the fact that a third of the hall was devoted to Web 2.0-themed exhibitors with names like KickApps, Yuuguu, Kapow Technologies, and Zude. The Web 2.0 portion of the show drew bigger crowds than the “legacy” portion as curious attendees explored new (and opportunistically repositioned) wares. A small portion of the hall was also devoted to Mobile Business Expo, which had a legacy feel to it.

Yesterday, I attended the InterOp and Mobile Business Expo show in New York (which was help alongside the Web 2.0 conference); and moderated a panel entitled "Software Platforms for Mobile and Wireless Computing." Basically, it was an opportunity to get together a bunch of smart folks with experience developing applications for multiple devices and talk about the challenges and opportunities posed by the proliferation of mobile platforms.

Enterprise Mobility Matters
Hello from Gotham City! Yesterday was the opening day of the Mobile Business Expo at Interop. The show has really strong attendance so far, which is a great sign, particularly given the complete meltdown of the financial markets just a couple of miles away from where I am writing this post.
